Rev. Dr. Ross Kingham
The Weston Creek Uniting Church family.
As we currently are finding the ‘new normal’ following the corona virus crisis of recent years, we have settled into our regular pattern of face-to-face weekly services of worship and other fellowship and bible study activities. We seek to be an intergenerational church of Word and Deed, welcoming all people. At this time, we have little involvement with children in our church gatherings. Our present calling is primarily to adults, especially older folk.
I am honoured to be able to serve in a part-time capacity as Supply Minister. Since January 2024.
Confessional/Devotional life/Worship and Discipleship
The confession/devotional life of the church remains the core of its existence. Without a worshipping, witnessing community, the church cannot be the church. Without constant prayer, reflection on and proclamation of the Word, fellowship and discipleship, pastoral care and support, the church cannot be the church. So, we go on in faith and trust as a community of Christ, and despite serious challenges, we are blessed to be part of His Body on earth in our corner of the world, called to be salt and light in our neighbourhoods.
The Journey Continues
Our life as people who worship and witness is ever-evolving. For God’s people through time, the present is never the same as the past. Weston Creek congregation today is not the same as five years ago, and certainly has a different shape that which existed when I first served as minister here in the 1970’s and 80’s.
Our current situation is dynamic. It is sustained by the prayers and deeds of our many leaders. No matter the ways in which we are changing, our future is sure.
Our situation as a congregation lies alongside the church plant in Molonglo. The population of Molonglo is expected to peak at 80,000 in a few years. This burgeoning population deserves the attention of all Christian groups and denominations in the ACT and offers a challenging field for witness and for Christian outreach.
